This third-party certification program qualifies participants as having the minimum knowledge, experience and skills needed to train Cierra Tank Services employees in Hazardous material 8 hour Awareness, 24 hour First Responder, and 40 hour Hazardous Materials.

Scope of knowledge includes proper management of hazardous materials handling, response, and spill prevention, strong emphasis on storage tank entry and maintenance work including tank decommissioning, isolation, ventilation, atmospheric testing and analysis, work permitting, OSHA Confined Space regulatory requirements, emergency response and tank recommisioning.

Program is based primarily on the practices and procedures the governing regulatory agencies and regulations.

The overall objective for this IQC Certification is to enhance the quality and competency of instruction provided during cleaning and maintenance activities, to minimize the risks of confined space hazards and to improve the overall safety performance of Cierra Tank employees during operations involving Hazardous Materials.

Like all other IQCIA's Individual Qualification Certification Programs , the IQC TT Haz Mat Certification is a voluntary program.

Minimum Qualification Requirements for Applicants
Education, Minimum Experience & Required Skills

1. YOU MUST COMPLETE THE IQCIA QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATION ENROLLEMENT AND APPLICATION PROCESS!

2. BS degree in engineering or technology 1 year, Supervisory experience in confined space (40 Haz Mat) related activities including:

  • permit issuance,
  • tank entry,
  • atmospheric testing,
  • tank cleaning,
  • attended at least three 40 hour Haz Mat courses
  • Maintenance as described in API 2015 and 2016.

3. 2-year degree or certificate in engineering or technology 2 years Experience in confined space, Haz Mat spill response and prevention, related activities including:

  • permit issuance, hazardous material labeling, and shipping,
  • atmospheric testing, tank cleaning, tank repair,
  • Maintenance as described in API 2015 and 2016, of which 1 year must be in Supervisor's capacity.

4. High school diploma or equivalent 5 years. Experience in confined space, hazardous materials first responder, haz mat Incident Command and related activities including:

  • permit issuance, tank entry
  • atmospheric testing, tank cleaning, tank repair and
  • maintenance as described in API 2015 and 2016, of which 1 year must be in Supervisor's capacity
