Scope of Training:This training course instructs personnel how to properly perform firewatch duties including site evaluation, fire prevention, and monitoring during hot work activities.
Course Objective:Topics covered in this course include:
- Identifying the four elements of a fire and understand what is necessary to extinguish a fire
- Naming the different classes of fire identified by the NFPA Fire Classification System
- Demonstrating skills needed to chose and operate the correct type of portable fire extinguisher needed for the type of fire
- Dry chemical

- Foam
- Inspection of an area for fire prevention before any hot work begins
- Define the term ôIntrinsically Safeö
- Define the term ôExplosion Proofö
- Understanding the principles behind grounding and bonding
- Discussing the use of a hot work permit
