Scope of Training:
Fires are dangerous on land but the dangers are compounded on a vessel. Knowing the ways of which fires are caused and extinguished will help in prevention. With fire fighting skills and fire control plans you can assure the safety of the vessel's crew.

Course Objective:
Any applicant who has successfully completed the 40-hour Combined Basic and Advanced Firefighting course will:
  • Satisfy the Basic Safety Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting training requirements of section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-2 of the Seafares' Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code and 46 CFR 10.205 (1) (2)
  • Satisfy the Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code
  • The relationship between smoking and asbestos exposure
  • Satisfy the Basic and Advanced Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205 (g) and 10.401 (g) (1) for a license
  • Satisfy the Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 13.113(d) (2) (i) (A), 13.113(e) (1) (i) (A) or (B), 13.301(e),13.401(e)
